The Holiday Season Has Begun!

November 19th, 2010

I love the holidays! Anyone who has been around my from October to New Years will tell you – Halloween, Thanksgiving and Christmas are BIG FUN times at our house! I am hosting Thanksgiving this year and have transitioned from Halloween to fall/Thanksgiving decor that will soon be all out, decked out for Christmas. No mirror, picture frame, table top or shelf escapes being adorned with fresh greens from my yard and every glass container and bowl is filed with vintage Christmas ornaments!

This year I am participating in Nashua’s first annual Festival of Trees at 94 and 96 Main Street. Schedules and details can be found on their website http://www.nashuafestivaloftrees.com/ .
This will be a wonderful new event for the downtown and will open Friday, November 26th. I hope to see everyone there!

I am so lucky to live in a place that has so many seasons that bring such beauty and wonders in nature.  At this time of the year my gardens are at their peak of glory and color and the smell of roses fills my yard.  My husband and I have lived in our home for 10 years now and when we moved in there was nothing but a few bushes the builder had put in.  None of those bushes exist in my yard any longer and instead I have planted every bush, perennial and lugged every rock into all ten + beds I have.I thought I would post some pictures to share with you. Enjoy!

Summer Project #100

May 16th, 2010

Here is one of my latest home projects. The front of my house has been bugging me for the longest time and I finally figured out what I wanted to do. I decided to extend the bed in front of the garage so I had enough room to plant this gorgeous weeping crab apple tree and framed it with these two mature English Boxwood bushes and dwarf evergreens. I took everything out of the old beds and transplanted them in other parts of the yard. I then pulled up all the old flagstone and my wonderful husband :) dug up the sod to extend the walkway. We planted the new trees and bushes and then laid down black garden fabric and covered them with crushed rocks. I found this great trellis and finally had a wonderful place to plant my climbing hydrangea. We are thrilled with the results!

Happy Mother’s Day!

May 3rd, 2010

IMG_2737It occurred to me recently when my 4 year old son presented me with perhaps the 10 or 20th(?) dandelion of this spring with utter joy and excitement with a “flower” for me of the many sweet joys of motherhood. I can remember myself as a child bringing my mother grand bouquets of dandelions thinking they were a magnificent gift and token of my love only to discover many years later that these were mere weeds and most undesirable. As my son comes running to me saying  “Mommy! I have a flower for you!” I remember the love for my mother as a child and cherish these precious tokens. So I react most dramatically with surprise and glee and insist we put the “flower” in water immediately. He beams with pride and delight as I place his flower in a tiny vase with water and display it on the window sill over my kitchen sink so I may admire it. It is these tiny gestures and moments in my short time in motherhood that remind me the joys of being a Mom.  Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Spring!

April 12th, 2010

What a beautiful weekend I had!  We had our first cookout and bonfire of the year.  We even toasted marshmallows – can this really be April???  My son and I actually went out Saturday morning and picked flowers for the table centerpiece.   I have our lovely bouquet pictured below.  My favorite part of seasonal decorating is bringing in nature’s bounty to the indoors.  Let summer begin!

Welcome to Tout Le Monde Interiors!

April 7th, 2010

Hello and welcome to Tout le Monde Interiors!  This is an exciting time as I have a brand new website designed by an amazing web design f irm called Kaysid Design!  I have at long last the ability to Blog and share my ideas and experiences in the world of interior design.  My intentions for this Blog are to share the projects I am working on as well as my experiences.

Spring is such a great time of year.  It seems we have been lucky this year and despite all the rain spring has arrived a little early and everyone (including myself) is inspired to work on home improvements.   In addition to sharing the projects of my clients I will share some of my own.  My most recent project was adding crown molding and a fabulous vintage column between my living room and kitchen nook I bought last year at Brimfield.  My sister and I carried that thing for at least three miles (OK maybe it was only a half mile but it sure felt like three!) to my car.  It was worth it – I feel like I am living in a new house!
